Secrets of the Stars – how plastic surgery creates youth and beauty

If you are in the grocery aisle, you often see the question on the tabloid magazines: Did they or didn’t they have plastic surgery?   For some celebrities, having plastic surgery is a well-kept secret but other stars, will readily tell all “Yes, I did and here’s the name of my doctor.”  But whether they admit it, many celebrities have had work done on their face in order to continue thriving in the business.

Even in ordinary day to day life, our society values youth and beauty.  The fact is that the more attractive men and women have the edge in landing jobs, making more money, getting more dates, and even having more friends.  People that feel confident in their looks report having higher self-esteem and less depression.  And whether you like this reality or not, few can argue with the fact that beautiful people seem to have it all.

Unlike the past, it is really very easy to make positive changes to improve your facial contours without the need for extensive surgery or a ton of money.  The plastic surgery industry has created many new injectable products that can help the average person reduce wrinkles, improve the alignment of their nose, increase the plumpness or their lips or more.  According to Dr. Michael Jasin, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon in Tampa, Florida, the vast improvement in dermal fillers and Botox type products has made a world of difference in his practice.  More people can afford the procedures because the costs have come down and injectable products do not require any recovery period so people no longer have to take weeks off from work.  Best of all, the new formulas available provide a much more natural look than even 10 years ago.

These dermal fillers and Botox type neurotoxins can be administered within a quick office visit and the results of the injections will show within a day or so.  If a good practitioner is doing the work, there can be remarkable improvements in appearance.  Dr. Jasin mentioned that while he still does surgical facelifts on patients, he can recreate the effect of a surgical lift simply using injectables.  While the “liquid facelift” will not last the way a surgical procedure does, it is a great way for someone to fix facial flaws or reduce wrinkles and look much younger than prior to the visit.

Some patients use the injectable method for a couple of years before committing to surgery, that way they can “try on” the results.  Plus, at the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute, they offer the Simplicity Facelift that is less invasive than the more extensive traditional facelift but provides long lasting enhancements that do not require as much recovery time or as much  of an investment.  No matter what type of facial improvement s you seek, be sure to do your homework and choose the best doctor.  There are many different companies that offer Botox treatments or Juvederm injections for the lips, but that are not well-trained, board certified medical personnel.  Even though the injections can be done relatively quickly, it takes a skilled hand with much knowledge of facial muscles to create a natural affect.   This is still a process better left to the experts and not to a hair stylist or a friend at a party.

If you have seen the celebrities on TV and wondered why they always look so beautiful and refreshed, and why you cannot achieve that same look using makeup at home then perhaps it is time to come in for a complimentary consultation.  The staff at the fully accredited Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute can discuss the options, costs, and details for your consideration and at least you will have the information you need to make a decision about restoring a naturally youthful appearance.

The Secret to Great Looking Lips

Admit it…. You want them.  Full, plump, juicy, sexy lips.  You see them on TV, in the movies, and in fashion magazines.  All the stars seem to have luscious lips and you want to know the secret.  Right?

Unfortunately, many of us do not start out with full lips and as we get older, our lips start to shrink and get thinner.  So what is a girl to do?  Well, there are some temporary ways to either make your lips a bit larger or use make-up as an illusion to create bountiful beauty.

One way to make your lips a bit bigger is to slough off the dead skin by brushing your lips with a soft toothbrush or rubbing with a facecloth.  This will remove any dry tissue and aggravate the lip tissue which will respond by becoming inflamed.  You can then apply lipstick or gloss and be on your way.

Or, try a little cinnamon oil or black pepper to irritate the lips and cause them to swell slightly.  Only problem with this method is that it can backfire over time and dry the lips out.  This will ultimately speed the rate of aging and make your lips smaller without the constant stimulation.  Another method is to use an over the counter plumping product that contains chemicals to induce inflammation.  These can work short term but need to be used frequently and can be expensive depending on the brand.

The other suggestion is to use makeup to add dimension and make your lips appear bigger.  Some make-up artists recommend simply using a lighter shade of lipstick.  Others advise that you add a little clear gloss in the center of your top and bottom lip (over the lipstick) to give a poutier appearance.  Or you can add a little eyeliner below your lower lip to give the illusion of a shadow that makes the lips look larger.

While all of these tricks can work short term, most of us know that the stars are really not going through this process daily.  The reality is that unless born with beautiful, puffy lips, there is a strong likelihood that there has been some chemical enhancements.  Many women that are in the entertainment or fashion industry have learned long ago about the secret of dermal fillers for creating the look they want.

There are all sorts of dermal fillers on the market today that can plump up the lips and reduce wrinkles at the same time.  Unlike the fillers of the past, today’s smooth gel formulas can give anyone a natural look and not a case of “fish lips.”   The real trick is to find the right plastic surgeon that has the experience and knowledge to make the lips fuller without overdoing it.

According to Dr. Michael Jasin, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon in Tampa, Florida, it is a combination of skillful injection of the best fillers in exactly the right quantities that craft the most natural look.  Dr. Jasin uses either Juvederm or the newer Belotero to add volume to the lips while keeping a normally smooth appearance.  “There is an art to injecting fillers in such a way that the outcome is attractive, not abnormally plump.”    Smooth gel fillers such as Juvederm or Belotero will work to add volume for up to 4 to 6 months at a time.

These medications also help fill in the small wrinkles around the lips which will make the patient look younger as well as more attractive.  The chemicals in the fillers are similar to substances already produced by the body and so fillers will be safely absorbed over time.  When the product wears off, another treatment can be done to reproduce the desired form.

If you would like to enhance your appearance and want to learn more about how dermal fillers can work for you, make sure that you work with a well-qualified, board-certified plastic surgeon.  There are many different types of providers that offer discount injections whether in a party like setting or as an add-on to their regular business (think hair or tanning salons).  The problem is that these non-medical personnel are the ones that give the plastic surgery business a bad name with the abnormal results of adding too much filler, incorrectly placing filler, or using the wrong type of product.

At the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute in Tampa, Florida, all procedures are done in an accredited medical facility by well-trained personnel operating under the direction of the renowned Dr. Jasin.  You can schedule a complimentary consultation to learn more about procedures to enhance your lips and facial features by calling (813) 975-3223 or clicking www.JasinFacial.com today.

Lunchtime Cure for Wrinkles

Some people have them at age 30, some not until age 50, but eventually all of us will get facial wrinkles.  In the past, getting rid of wrinkles involved major surgery and required lots of downtime for healing.  But today, there are many quick and easy ways to diminish the appearance of lines and creases.  In fact, many procedures can be done in less than an hour and do not necessitate any time off from work.

Sometimes called the Lunchtime Facelift or Liquid Facelift, there are a variety of non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures that can help eliminate facial lines and wrinkles.  These involve injectable products such as Botox or Xeomin that can help relax facial muscles and tighten up the skin.  Botox and similar drugs also can help the prevent formation of new wrinkles while the medication is active in the body.  These injectable products are not permanent solutions, but Botox can last 3 to 6 months at a time before another treatment is required.

The injection of dermal fillers is another method to reduce wrinkles and plump up facial tissue to restore a youthful appearance.  Dermal fillers, such as Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero and Radiesse replace the lost collagen or fat in our skin to fill in deeper creases or lines, or can be used to add fullness to areas where the skin has begun to sag.  Each type of filler has a slightly different formula and works best on specific areas of the face.  For example, Juvederm and Belotero are extremely smooth fillers and are often used in the lips and in the lipstick lines around the mouth.  Radiesse, by so comparison, is a slightly thicker, longer lasting filler that is injected deeper under the skin tissue to fill in larger facial furrows or used to add volume to the chin or cheek area.

All of these products are injectable, so they do not require any anesthesia or surgery but make sure that you go to a well-qualified, accredited medical facility to get the work done.  According to Dr. Michael Jasin, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon in Tampa Fl, there is an art to injecting Botox and dermal fillers in such a way that the patient looks naturally refreshed, not plastic.   These products need to be placed in exactly the right spot to either relax the muscle or to fill in the wrinkles and have to be injected in the correct amount.  “It is really easy for an inexperienced practitioner to inject too much and the results of doing so are often undesirable.” In fact, if Botox is injected in the wrong place, there are some serious side-effects that can occur. Some patients have experienced droopy eyelids, muscle weakness or difficulty swallowing as a result of the medication paralyzing an unintended muscle.  With dermal fillers, the most common problem with incorrect dosing is an exaggerated and unnatural puffiness that can last 6 to 18 months until the drug wears off.  For these reasons, make sure that you choose a well-qualified provider.

When the injections are done by an expert, there is no pain and most patients will have only minor bruising at the injection site which will go away within a day or so.  The effects will be apparent within a day and there is no need to take time off from work or from activities as there are no bandages or recovery time required.

If you are interested in learning more about how injectables can help reduce your wrinkles and improve your appearance, schedule a complimentary consultation at the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute.  The doctors and staff at the fully accredited medical facility are specialists in facial rejuvenation and offer many “lunchtime” procedures that will leave you looking like a naturally younger version of yourself.

Everything you need to know about Wrinkles

If you have skin, then you will get wrinkles.  Wrinkles are usually the first visible signs of aging that most people will experience.  It often starts with a small crease at the corner of the eye or a line near your mouth, and then with every passing year, the lines get deeper and more numerous.  And while there is no way to prevent them entirely, there are ways to delay their arrival.  Here is everything you need to know about wrinkles:

According to Dr. Michael Jasin, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon in Tampa, Florida, wrinkles occur as we age because the skin loses elasticity.  This happens because as we get older, the outer layer of skin (epidermis) become thinner and does not retain moisture as well.  The epidermis pulls away from the second layer (dermis) which reduces the flow of blood and nutrients to the outer tissue.  At the same time, the dermis which contains most of the elastic properties begins to degrade.  Less collagen is produced and the elastin fibers that allow our skin to stretch back into shape wear down.  Our skin dries out and cracks or wrinkles appear.  In the subcutaneous layer under the skin, the fat cells shrink and so the wrinkles get deeper and the skin begins to sag.       This process happens to everyone but the timing can differ greatly depending on several factors:

1) Genetics: Our genes can determine if we are prone to wrinkling or not.  Barring other factors, heredity plays a role in when facial aging begins to appear.

2) Sun: Exposure to the sun accounts for up to 90% of all cases of premature aging.  The sun dries out the skin and damages sensitive tissue.  It is the exposure to UV light that breaks down the connective proteins (collagen and elastin) that gives the skin its strength and flexibility.

3) Facial Expressions: All our facial movements and expressions contribute to wrinkles.  When we squint, smile, laugh and scowl, we use small facial muscles over and over again.  With time, these form a groove beneath the skin which will turn into lines and grooves on the face.

4) Smoking: Smoking accelerates the normal aging process in a couple of ways.  Smoking dries out the face and lessens the blood flow.  Also crucial nutrients are lost which are needed to keep our skin hydrated and supple.

5) Poor Hydration and Nutrition: Not drinking enough water or eating enough nutritious food can affect your skin and lead to wrinkles.

6) Gender: Women seem to develop more wrinkles, especially around their mouths.  This may be because women have fewer sweat glands and sebaceous glands that lubricate the skin.  It is also thought that women tend to exhibit facial expressions more frequently than men.

7) Hormonal Imbalance: Woman who have hormonal swings, especially during menopause, tend to have an increase in the formation of wrinkles.

8 ) Free Radicals: These unstable oxygen molecules (called free radicals) can damage cell function and alter genetic material.  These free radicals break down the production of collagen which leads to wrinkles.

9) Alcohol: The use of alcohol can increase wrinkles because alcohol dries the skin and hinders the absorption of nutrients.

10) Age: No matter what we do to prevent wrinkles from forming, we cannot stop getting older.  Over time, the natural aging process will lead to the breakdown of collagen, elastin, and fat which sets the stage for wrinkles.

Of the causes listed, there are many that we can control to delay the creation of wrinkles.  Staying out of the sun or wearing protective sun-screen is a big plus.  We can also watch what we eat, drink more water, avoid smoking and too much alcohol to give our skin the healthiest atmosphere for the growth of new elastic tissue.

However, if you have wrinkles and want to reduce their appearance, there are now many ways to turn back the clock on aging.  The development of injectable products such as Botox or Xeomin can help relax the underlying muscles to ease the tension on the outer skin.  These miracle drugs can not only diminish the existing wrinkles but also stop new ones from forming (as least for several months).  Dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Belotero are great for replacing the lost fat cells and filling in the deeper creases and lines.  Plus fillers can help plump up the cheeks and lips to restore the natural contours of youth.  For more information on how to reduce wrinkles, contact the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute in Tampa Florida.

Botox: safely reducing wrinkles in the U.S. for over 10 years

Either you, or someone you know, have used Botox to erase facial wrinkles or lines.  It was ten years ago that the FDA approved the use of Botox Cosmetic for use in reducing wrinkles, but Botox has been on the market for a lot longer.  How is it that this “dangerous poison” has become the biggest cosmetic product in use today?

Botox (Botulinum Toxin) has been around for centuries and it was first discovered as a food poison in sausage meat.  Doctors in the early 1800’s thought there might be some benefits of the new substance and many experiments were conducted over the years to see if it could help cure different medical conditions.  But, it wasn’t until the late 1980’s that the wrinkle removing properties of the medication was discovered.

Around 1987, research on Botox indicated that small doses of a purified botulinum toxin type A could relax muscles temporarily and a Canadian doctor, Jean Carruthers, treated a patient with Botox to help cure blepharospasm (excessive blinking of the eyes).  Dr. Carruthers injected the Botox into the nerves controlling her patient’s eyelids to stop the manic fluttering.  The female patient was thrilled with the results and kept returning for more injections even though the condition was under control.  The patient found that every time she received a Botox injection, the wrinkles between her brows virtually disappeared, leaving her looking younger and more relaxed.

After Dr. Carruthers and her husband (a dermatologist) wrote a paper about their wonderful finding that Botox erases wrinkles, Allergan purchased the rights to market the product and the FDA approved Botox for cosmetic use in 2002.   Today, Botox is a well-known brand name and over 4.6 million Americans are treated with the product each year.  The product does carry some risk, however, it has a better risk-to-benefit ratio than the majority of cosmetic procedures on the market.  Serious complications are possible, but when administered by a well-qualified medical practitioner in an accredited medical facility, the chance of a serious reaction occurring is extremely rare.

According to Dr. Michael Jasin, a board certified, facial plastic surgeon in Tampa, Florida, Botox treatments are one of the procedures we do that result in high patient satisfaction in a very short period of time.  Other treatments such as facelifts or laser treatments, take longer to show their effects, but within a few days after the injection of Botox patients look more refreshed and natural.  Dr. Jasin says ‘we are careful to administer Botox in small doses to specific muscles that contribute most to the formation of wrinkles.’  Our patients get great feedback from their friends and family who tell them they look not only younger but happier and more alert.  This is because wrinkles and sagging skin can make someone look like they are scowling or tired, even when they are not.  Botox corrects these issues and keeps working for up to 6 months before another treatment is required.

If you have considered Botox in the past, but were afraid of side-effects or not looking natural, the 10 year success of the product in terms of overall use and safety, should give you ease.   Dr. Jasin and his experienced staff at the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute are specialists  in procedures and treatments to enhance, beautify and rejuvenate the face and neck.  Contact us to set an appointment for a complimentary consultation to discuss your whether Botox is right for you.

Reduce Wrinkles with Injectable Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers restore youthful fullness by replacing or replenishing those lost ingredients.  They plump up the area around the injection site to add volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and furrows.  Different fillers accomplish this in different ways.

Many are made with hyaluronic acid (same as the substance found in your skin) and these are relatively smooth gel fillers that work well in the lips, around the eyes, and in the tear troughs.  Some of the brand names for these hyaluronic acid fillers are Juvederm and Restylane, plus there is a new filler on the market called Belotero that offers an updated version of this popular filler.

For areas with deeper wrinkles or that need more volume added to restore the natural contours, fillers made with calcium hydroxylapatite may be a better option.  This compound is found in human bones and fills the deepest creases such as nasolabial folds (smile lines or laugh lines) or used to plump up the cheeks or chin.  Radiesse is the most familiar brand name for this type of dermal filler.  This calcium based gel is injected deeper into the skin to provide more lift and help return the face to its younger form.     The key to using fillers is to inject enough to fill in the lines or to restore the contour of the facial features, but not overdo the filler to produce a fake or unnatural look.

According to Dr. Michael Jasin, a board certified,  facial plastic surgeon in Tampa, Florida, there is an art to injecting dermal filler and it is important to have an expert understanding of how facial muscles and tissue work in order to create exactly the right look.  There are too many unskilled practitioners in the Florida market that give the cosmetic industry a bad name by improperly using fillers and Botox, leaving some patients with an abnormal look until the product wears off.

Fillers are amazing in the way that they restore youthfulness to your face and the results appear in only a matter of days.  These injectables have been called “liquid facelifts” because they offer many of the benefits of a surgical facelift without the downtime.  While they are not permanent solutions, fillers will last on average 6 months to a year and a half depending on the type of filler used.  Patients that receive treatment are usually extremely pleased with the results obtained with dermal fillers.  They are gratified by the immediate reduction of wrinkles and refreshed appearance following the quick procedure.

If you are starting to show your age or have any facial issues that you’d like improved, schedule a complimentary consultation at the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute to learn more about the benefits, risks, and costs of dermal filler injections.  Our highly qualified staff members are experts in the field of facial cosmetic improvement and all work is done at our fully accredited medical facility in Tampa.  We look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve the natural, youthful look you desire.

Fixing Facial Flaws: How to Remove Acne Scars, Rosacea, Age Spots and More

There are few people in the world that have not struggled with some type of minor facial flaw.  In fact, by the age of 30, the majority of us will have experienced a form of acne, sun damage or at least the start of wrinkles.  Here are some of the most common facial flaws and a solution to repair the damage:

1) Acne Scars – Most adolescents will develop acne when sebaceous glands become plugged with excess oil during the teenage years.  This causes pimples or nodules which will usually go away after time.  But if the bumps are squeezed or the acne more severe, then lasting scars can develop on the face.

2) Age Spots – Also known as Liver Spots, these brownish patches appear on the skin as a person ages.  The cause is due to either sun damage and/or genetics but the spots are not harmful in any way.  However, many people wish to have these large brown spots removed for cosmetic reasons.

3) Large Pores – Pores are the tiny openings on our skin that allow oil to be released to keep our skin soft and hydrated.  Most people’s pores are virtually unnoticeable, but in some cases, large pores can be caused by hereditary or by becoming clogged with oils and skin cells.  People with thicker, oily skin tend to have larger pores and pores do expand with age.

4) Rosacea – this skin condition is characterized by facial redness, small nodules and minor swelling of the facial tissue.  Rosacea usually affects people with fair skin and it worsens over time.  While it can be kept in check with topical or oral medications, Rosacea tends to cyclic (it will flare up for weeks to months and then recede).

5) Scars – Facial scars (other than those caused by acne) can appear for any number of reasons.  Perhaps an accident left a scar or chicken pox, removal of a wart or mole or a burn.  A scar is formed after an injury heals and leaves the skin with a different texture or color than the surrounding area.

6) Skin Texture, Sun Damage & Wrinkles – while many different factors can affect our skin, sun damage is usually the culprit behind the creation of wrinkles, leathery skin and uneven complexion.  Overexposure to the sun can cause skin cancer, contribute to age spots and exacerbate rosacea.

Most of these skin conditions are relatively minor (with the exception of skin cancer), but many people still prefer to remove or reduce the appearance of these facial flaws.  According to Dr. Michael Jasin, a board certified, facial plastic surgeon in Tampa, Florida, laser skin resurfacing is one of the most effective ways to treat imperfections of the skin once they have occurred.  Skin resurfacing treatments can reduce lines and wrinkles, as well as age spots, scars, moles and other skin lesions.  Laser therapy can shrink large pores and resolve many of the issues that rosacea causes in the skin (bumps, spider veins, redness).    The laser removes layers of skin to treat problems both in the top layer of the skin (epidermis) as well as in the deeper layers of skin (dermis).  When the skin heals, collagen growth is stimulated which will leave the skin smoother and healthier.  Laser skin resurfacing also produces an overall younger appearance because of increased elasticity of the rejuvenated skin cells.

For many years, Dr. Michael Jasin of the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute has been at the forefront of laser surgery for both functional and cosmetic purposes.  This procedure is extremely safe and requires minimal downtime.  If you would like to learn more about how Laser Skin Resurfacing can work to reduce your facial flaws, please contact us at our fully accredited facility in Tampa to set up a complimentary consultation.

Facial Expressions can cause wrinkles

Everyone makes facial expressions and we make hundreds of expressions throughout the course of each day.  We communicate our feelings by making tiny movements of our facial muscles and over time, these continuous movements create wrinkles.  These wrinkles usually form around the eyes, in the forehead region and around the mouth.  But trying to stop making facial expressions is not a realistic option to prevent wrinkles from forming.  Some of our expressions are intentional but because most are tied to emotion, we often display our feelings involuntarily.    Facial expressions are the primary means of conveying social information among humans.  The slightest change in the position of an eyebrow can change the message we send to other people entirely.  Look at the illustrations below and you will be able to read the emotion expressed simply by looking at the eyebrows (or in the second set of illustrations, just by the position of the lips).

Because faces only have a limited range of motion, expressions require small muscle movements to form the desired message.  The forehead region works the muscles that control the eyebrows so it is common for lines and creases to form in people that communicate with their eyes.  People that smile or laugh a lot will develop lines on either side of their mouth that extend up towards their nose (nasolabial folds). And squinting or expressing anger means that the muscles in the upper cheek and alongside the eyes will create crow’s feet or wrinkle around the eyes.  According to Dr. Michael Jasin, a board certified facial plastic surgeon in Tampa, these crinkles are a normal part of human aging – the more we work our facial muscles, the more stress we place on the outlying skin.  As we get older, we lose elasticity in our skin and wrinkles will form in the areas of the face that we use the most.  This combined with gravity, can also cause laxness to develop which allows the skin to sag in some places.

However, what happens when the creases and sagging skin combine to produce facial expressions that do not match the inner emotion?    Some faces are often falsely read as expressing some emotion, even when they are neutral, because the skin has too loose to follow the muscle tissue to form the desired expression.  One example is when the eyebrows start to sag or become hooded, people may think that you are tired or angry, when you are not.  Or the corners of your mouth droop, so you look sad even when you are having a great day.

For people who have developed wrinkles that inhibit facial expressions, or if you just do not like the look of facial creases, there is a solution.   A board-certified plastic surgeon has many options to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and restore a more youthful appearance.  Injectable products such as Botox or Xeomin can help relax the facial muscles to shrink the lines and also prevent more from appearing (at least while the medication is at work).  Dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane or Belotero can add volume back into the facial tissue to fill in deeper creases and improve facial contours.  For more extensive aging, there are surgical solutions such as a brow lift or facelift that can tighten up the skin and underlying muscle tissue to improve your appearance.

Since it is unrealistic to try to stop making expressions, the options available today to reduce wrinkles are quite impressive.  At the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute, the goal is to restore a natural, but more youthful look.  Dr. Jasin and his highly experienced staff at the Facial Rejuvenation Institute are experts at removing facial wrinkles at their fully-accredited medical facility in Tampa, Florida.  Call for a consultation to learn more about the best procedure for you.

Hair Loss Solution – Simplicity Hair Restoration

For many, a full head of hair represents youth, attractiveness, vigor, and desirability, both personally and professionally.  Over 40 million men and women suffer from hair loss such as thinning hair, a receding hairline or baldness, which can affect self-confidence.  But there is an innovative new solution.

The Simplicity Hair Restoration is the new, least invasive way to restore the head of hair you once had in your youth.  This procedure requires no incisions, sutures, staples and no scars.  This procedure provides a faster recovery as well as a seamless head of natural, healthy looking hair.

In the past, Florida hair restoration patients had only surgical options for hair transplantation.  The “strip method” which is still used by many hair transplant providers today, requires cutting a strip of scalp from the back of the head and harvesting the hair for transfer to areas of hair loss.  This is a painful technique that leaves a significant incision that must be stapled or sutured for up to 14 days.  Not only is the downtime from work and activities significant, but a long scar will remain long after the surgery is completed.  For patients that like to wear their hair short, this scar can be visibly noticeable and unattractive.  Also, some patients that have undergone this method have reported lasting pain and numbness since the scalp has many nerve endings which are disturbed by this process.

The Simplicity Hair Restoration offers a key difference in how hair is extracted for transplant.  The process is automated and there are no cuts made into the scalp.  Your healthy hair follicles are extracted with very small (1mm) punches and in effect, vacuumed from the recipient site.  This gentle harvest of “follicular units” will provide 1 to 4 healthy hairs that can then be replaced into areas where hair loss has occurred.  The hairs are inserted back into the scalp to mimic the hair lost so it will re-grow in the same angle and direction as the original hair.  This method involves less manipulation which means far less trauma and healthier hair grafts.  Hair restoration is performed by experienced experts at our fully-accredited facilities.

For women, hair loss is particularly difficult and seldom discussed.  But the Simplicity Hair Restoration will work for women as well as for men.  Because the follicles are harvested without any surgery, women can continue to wear their hair long and there is no need for a buzz cut or removal of a large swath of hair.  So the Simplicity Hair Restoration is less noticeable than any other method available today.

The Simplicity Hair Restoration is a permanent solution that transplants your healthy hair follicles to areas of your scalp where loss occurred.  Once transplanted, your healthy and natural hair will grow back without any incisions, sutures, staples or scars.  Schedule a consultation with Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute today to learn more about our Simplicity Hair Restoration procedure.

Women’s Hair Loss – Types and causes of hair loss in women

Hair loss in women is one of the least talked about conditions partly because most people associate hair loss only with men.  Yet, when looking at the total number of hair loss victims in the US, women account for 40% of the overall cases.  For women, hair loss can be devastating – thinning hair and bald spots take an emotional toll that is seldom discussed.  For women that are losing their hair, the consequences are loss of self-worth, fear of being unattractive and less desirable.  Many women suffer in silence and develop depression as a result.

Hair loss in women can have many different causes.  Androgenetic alopecia which causes male pattern baldness also effects women but without the familiar pattern of loss starting in the upper forehead region.  Women with this condition also lose hair but it can occur in many different areas of the scalp though it is most generally noticed on the crown of the head.    The Ludwig scale shows the most common sequence of balding in women but, note that hair loss in women does not always follow a predictable pattern as in men.

Besides alopecia, there are many other types of hair loss associated with women though most are more of a temporary nature.  Stress or trauma can cause thinning hair or complete balding.  Some triggers are childbirth, major surgery, severe infection or major emotional stress.  Loss due to these conditions can last 6 weeks to 3 months, but the hair generally grows back when the issues have passed.  Chemotherapy is another reason for balding in women because the drugs that are used in chemo attack rapidly dividing cells which includes hair follicle cells.  Hair lost to chemotherapy usually will return once the therapy is completed.

Another cause of hair loss in women is created by localized trauma of the hair follicles such as that created by certain hair styles.  African American women with tight corn rows can experience this effect as can women who wear their hair in ponytails.  Any hair that is frequently and tightly pulled back can affect the roots of the hair which leads to loss in those specific areas affected by the hair style.  If detected early enough, the condition can be reversed.  In rare cases, the hair loss can become permanent in areas where the hair follicles are repeatedly injured over a long period of time.

Also, women that have a psychological condition called Trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling) will lose their hair due to the repetitive trauma caused by their plucking.  This hair loss must be treated by addressing the underlying reason for the condition first before hair replacement treatment can be considered.

For conditions that result in permanent hair loss, the Simplicity Hair Restoration available at the Jasin Facial Rejuvenation Institute can restore a woman’s full head of hair without any noticeable scars or visible marks of any kind.  If you would like information about the Simplicity Hair Restoration, call us today for a complimentary consultation or visit our website www.jasinfacial.com.
